CONDITIONS OF PLAY

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES

The following conditions shall apply to the playing of all KBCC Club Championship games:

  1. Every game shall be played ON or BEFORE the “ROUND PLAYED BY” date set for the round of competition, as shown on the “Game Draw Sheet” posted on the noticeboard. This condition is intended to support the efficient and smooth running of Club games and to provide fairness to all players who enter Club Championships.

  1. All full playing members of KBCC are eligible to play in Open events. Playing members must have played the majority of games in B Grade pennant competition in the current season, prior to the date of commencement of the first round of a Club event, to be eligible to enter B Grade events. If a player becomes ineligible for B Grade events prior to the commencement of the first round of Club competition (i.e. has played the majority of games in A Grade pennant during the season), the player must withdraw from the Club B Grade event.

  1. PLEASE NOTE: B Grade players who enter both the Open and B Grade sections of a KBCC Club Championship event (i.e. both the Open and B Grade sections of Men’s Fours) MUST indicate BEFORE commencement of the event/s which of the two (Open or B Grade) will be counted for KBCC Player of the Year points.

  1. Please only enter a Club Championship competition if you know that you are available to play in all rounds.

  1. Nominated skips (or players in singles competitions) should arrange and play their matches as soon as possible after the draw to eliminate the possibility of having to forfeit a match due to any unforeseen circumstances that may arise.

  1. The date and time agreed for the match is to be written on the Game Draw Sheet adjacent to the match in question to eliminate any misunderstanding of the date and time of play.

  1. Both skips or the players in a singles game, shall be responsible for writing the date and time on the external chalkboard. The Greenkeeper, or the Chair of Greens, will nominate the rink for each match to be played and will have sole responsibility in this regard.

  1. It is the responsibility of the skips to notify their players of the date and time of each match. It is the responsibility of both players in a singles match to organise a marker.

  1. No practice shall be permitted prior to the commencement of any Club Championship match on the day scheduled for the game to be played.

  1. In a team game, if a player is unavailable, an eligible substitute player may be nominated. Any registered playing member of KBCC who is otherwise eligible to play, but is not participating in the same competition in any other team, may be used as a substitute player.

  1. If a player is unable to continue playing in the competition after having played at least one match, the skip may nominate a replacement player for all remaining matches by first consulting with the Tournament Director to ensure the player’s eligibility.

  1. In all rounds of the KBCC Club Championships, up to and including the semi-final round, players may dress in mufti. ALL PLAYERS PLAYING IN THE FINAL OF A KBCC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT AND MARKERS IN A SINGLES FINAL WILL BE DRESSED IN FULL CLUB PENNANT UNIFORM AND OTHERWISE CONFORM TO BOWLS AUSTRALIA POLICY IN REGARD TO DRESS REQUIREMENTS.

  1. If a match has not been played before the “ROUND PLAYED BY” date stipulated for the completion of that round of competition, then both teams (or both players in singles competition) shall be deemed to have forfeited the match, and neither team (or singles players) will take any further part in that Club Championship competition.

  1. If the skips (or the players in a singles competition) cannot agree on a date and/or time to play their match, the Tournament Director will nominate a date and time, on or before the “ROUND PLAYED BY” date for the round, when the match will be played. In the event that the match remains unplayed, then the Tournament Director will determine whether one or both of the teams involved (or the players in a singles match) will be deemed to have forfeited the match.

  1. If a team (or a player in a singles match) is not ready to bowl within 30 minutes after the agreed time of commencement, then the match will be forfeited, and the team (or singles player) in attendance will advance to the next round of competition. These details must be recorded on the scorecard and handed to the Tournament Director.

  1. ALL MATCHES ARE TO BE PLAYED ON THE OUTDOOR GREENSunless both skips (in a team event) or both players (in a singles match) agree to play indoors. All finals will be played outdoors on grass unless organised otherwise by the Tournament Director.

  1. If the Greenkeeper or the Chairman of the Greens Committee closes the green for maintenance or for any other reason (i.e., consistent rain), before the commencement of play, then the skips (or players in a singles match) have two options:

  1. reschedule the match for a later date and time, but only if it is still possible to complete the match on or before the Last Date for the round; or
  2. play the match indoors.

  1. If a match being played outdoors is suspended due to weather conditions then it must be completed outdoors and on the same rink when it is possible to recommence play. Once play has commenced outdoors, it must be completed outdoors.

  1. Except in the final round of competition, if the weather is inclement then the match should be postponed to another mutually acceptable time if the match so rescheduled can be played on or before the “ROUND PLAYED BY” date on the Game Draw Sheet. If rescheduling is not possible, then the match must be relocated to the Indoor Centre BEFORE COMMENCEMENT OF PLAY.

  1. The “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” governs all other aspects of Club Championship games.

  1. Complaints/appeals must be lodged in writing to the Tournament Director within 24 hours of the completion of a match.

  1. If unforeseen circumstances occur, the Tournament Director will decide the outcome.
